Good afternoon, Marietta Indians!
Teachers and Administrators are working hard from home to get ready for our state mandated distance learning that is starting next week.
Our world is stressful enough right now, so parents and students please do not stress over this!
Distance learning is not meant to take a lot of time each day and will be a review of skills or games and projects using skills already learned. It will not take as much time as it would in a regular school day. Depending on the grade level, it should take no more than 30 minutes to an hour in lower grades to 1 -2 hours for high school students per day to complete. Many of our older students have been using a digital format in most of their classes already.
We will have flexible solutions for students who have internet at home and those who do not. We will also check out computers for students who have internet, but just need a device to be successful. See attached for our schedule for picking up personal items, checking out devices as well as other pertinent info regarding distance learning.
We appreciate your patience with us through this process as this is all new to many of us as well. Principals' emails are listed on the attached letter. Please email your child's building principal if you have specific questions. You can also call your child's building or our main number at 276-9444 and leave a message that will be directed to the appropriate person.
Our wonderful cafeteria ladies served approximately 180 meals today! Each sack had a hand written word of encouragement for each student. Meals are available Monday thru Friday drive thru style. Please email Wendy Birks at wbirks@mariettaisd.org or call 276-9444 ext. 234 if you have any questions.

Good evening, Marietta Indians! This morning, the State Board of Education voted to close schools and all extracurricular activities to be canceled for the remainder of the school year as expected. There are still a lot of questions during this extraordinary time, but what we do know is that we miss and care about our students.
Here is what you can expect at this time:
We will begin to offer daily meals for students next Monday, March 30th. Watch our Facebook page for pick-up schedules.
We are working on schedules for pick up of personal items from classrooms/lockers as well as medication. Your child's site will be sending out information as it is available.
We are also working on a creative alternate plan for graduation as we want to honor our Senior's amazing accomplishments. Information will be sent out as soon as it is available.
If you are needing to reach out to a teacher or coach during this time you can contact them via email. All staff have access to their school email even when not on campus. Follow this link to access our staff page on the website. https://www.mariettaisd.org/o/marietta-ps/staff.
We will begin the required distance learning services on or shortly after Monday, April 6th. We understand that a fully online platform may not be feasible for all of our families. Our teachers are planning for all circumstances including using online instruction as well as other methods for those that do not have internet access. Each site will work with families' individual circumstance to help meet the needs of our students. The state will be giving us further guidance on the many questions we have about this process and we expect to be able to apply some flexibility in this difficult time. Just know we are all in this together and we all want what is best for our students. We ask for your patience as we plan and please email (preferred) or call 276-9444 to leave a message if you have more immediate needs or questions.
In an effort to return students’ personal items from the elementary school, you are welcome to bring your child up as planned:
3rd grade- Friday, March 27 from 9-11 am
4th grade- Monday, March 30 from 10:30am -12:30 pm and 5th grade from 1-3 pm. We will try to have less than 10 students in the building at a time, to keep everyone safe.
We are sending out a google form survey, at the middle school level, to our parents. Please check your email for the form.
We are missing our kids!!! Teachers will be calling this week to check on our students and their families.
See attached letter for the latest update.
After careful consideration, we have decided not to offer daily meals to our students during the current 2-week closure. Instead, we have received a large donation from a vendor providing us with fresh produce. This produce along with additional canned food from our food pantries is being sorted and packed by volunteers from our school and community and will be delivered to approximately 60 students we know are in need. If the closure extends beyond the initial 2-week period, we will reevaluate and look at all options including providing daily meals to make sure our students are fed.
If you are a parent of a Marietta student that does not receive a food box/backpack and are in need of food please contact Mrs. Naylor at bnaylor@mariettaisd.org or call the school's main number 276-9444 to leave a message and we will help put you in touch with resources.
The Oklahoma State Board of Education has enacted a mandatory statewide school closure in effect until April 6th. We are waiting on additional guidance from our state agencies and will make plans over the coming days to best serve our students and staff during this closure. Please watch for additional information via our school app, Facebook and automated call system.
