Art students of Marietta High School’s Courteney Starsick recently received notice that they had been rewarded for their artwork by the Oklahoma Association of Conservation Districts in their annual poster contest.
The OACD’s poster contest provides kindergarten through 12th-grade students an opportunity to convey their thoughts about soil, water, and related natural resource issues through art.
It also highlights the educational outreach efforts of conservation districts and their state associations, auxiliaries, and agencies. The contest follows the annual Stewardship Week theme of the National Association of Conservation Districts. This year’s theme is "Healthy Soil, Healthy Life."
Winning first place, which includes a plaque and cash prize, were Colours Starsick, Mary Kaitlin Harris, and Hayden Lowrey. Second-place winner was Zharik Ochoa Salazar. Third-place winners were Kora Humble, Annalise Vivyan, Abigail Carmona, and Deisy Sandoval Hernandez.
Artwork of first-place winners was sent to Oklahoma City for state judging.
