On September 27, Marietta High School choir students joined hundreds of other area students in Durant where they auditioned for the Southeastern All-District Honor Choir.
After having been chosen as honor choir members, eleven of those students returned to the Southeastern Oklahoma State University campus on n Tuesday, October 27 to participate in the Honor Choir Festival, which was held in the Montgomery Auditorium.
Students selected to the honor choir were Rebekah Alberda, Angel Follis, Colours Starsick, Ace Austin, Haylen Lowery, Alexis Creasman, Mackenzie Kyle, Abygail Barrientos, Eva Bucher, Isabel Lopez, and Tanasia Randle.
At the performance, two students were awarded with special medals for multi-year Honor Choir participation.
Tanasia Randle was awarded with a three-year medal for selection to the choir in her sophomore, junior, and senior years. Colors Starsick was awarded with a six-year medal for selection to the Junior High Choir in seventh through ninth grades and the High School Choir in tenth through twelfth grades.
“The dedication of these students is second to none,” said their director, Courteney Starsick. “I am looking forward to seeing how well they will do in the spring in district and state contests.”
