Marietta Public Schools honored local veterans in a celebration of Veteran’s Day at the school on Friday, November 11 at 9 a.m. in the auditorium. All veterans, their families, and community members were invited to join with MPS students and faculty at the program.
Guest speakers included Garrett Fisher, U.S. Marines; Bob Grove, U.S. Marines; and Paul Riley, U.S. Air Force and U.S. Army. Additionally, the middle and high school bands performed patriotic selections.
“Thank you isn’t enough for the sacrifices our veterans made and make,” said organizer Sara Gore. “The time away from family and friends and the life they could be living at home as opposed to the life they chose so we could enjoy our freedoms should mean so much to all of us. It hits closer to home for me because of my husband’s 23 years of service.
“Freedom is not free. It always comes at a price, and I want our students to understand that.”
