Marietta High School sophomore and Love County 4-Her Emily Faulkenberry was awarded the Noble Cause Award for August 2022. The award is presented by Noble McIntyre of McIntyre Law in Oklahoma City to young Oklahomans who are making a positive difference in their community.
For her 4-H service project, Emily decided over a year ago to make birthday bags full of supplies to throw a birthday party for kids who might not otherwise have the means.
Emily began sharing the birthday bags with kids in the Marietta Public School system. Then she moved on to help children with Sara’s Project in Ardmore. She’s currently working on bags to take to the children’s shelter in Ardmore. Emily’s been delivering her bags for approximately a year and has distributed more than 50 bags.
“I plan to keep going until every kid in my area can have a happy birthday,” she said.
Emily was nominated for the award by Love County’s OSU Extension Educator Lauren Minyard. She received the award, which came with a donation for the Marietta 4-H club, in the McIntyre Law Firm in Oklahoma City on August 24.
