Marietta Public Schools has experienced two separate acts of vandalism over the past two weeks, both times in the primary school and both pointing to a group of young boys.

During the first break-in a fire extinguisher was removed and discharged, and a fire alarm was set off.

The next week, vandals again illegally entered the school, this time spray painting the interior and exterior of the building, including the primary saferoom gym floor, and ransacked some stored materials used in elementary PE classes.

The incidents were reported to the Marietta Police Department who used security camera footage to aid in identifying the responsible parties.

“Those identified will be held responsible for the cost of the clean-up and repairs,” said Superintendent Brandi Naylor.

Additionally, Naylor added that the elementary playground is closed down and locked for the summer so no students should be on the main campus at any time of the day or evening.
