The Marietta Indians’ Powerlifting squad were named regional runners-up in Anadarko on March 4, qualifying four lifters – Draden Reynolds, Kaden Dudley, Titus Higle, and Edward Hill – for the state meet, held in El Reno on March 12.

At the state meet, Dudley, Higle, and Hill were ranked in the top ten finishers, and Reynolds was named the state champion in the 220-pound deadlift.

Reynolds’s 635-pound lift beat the previous state record of 615 pounds by an impressive 20-pound margin. Additionally, Reynolds was named the best lifter of the entire state meet.

“Our impressive showing at the state meet sets the tone for next year’s team to work harder, qualify more kids for state, and finish well,” said Coach Alex Doby.
