New lighting has been installed at Marietta Public Schools’ McClain Stadium, and administrators say it’ll make a big difference in the events held on the field.

The lighting was installed by Shawnee Lighting, an Oklahoma City company that has installed and maintained stadium lighting for football, baseball, and softball facilities at Marietta for decades. The total cost for the project was $100,300, which was paid for from the school’s building funds, resulting in no increased tax rates for the school’s patrons.

“With new LED technology, not only will the field be brighter so fans can see the game better, the lights can be controlled remotely with a phone or tablet, and we will have the capability of dimming, shimmering, and changing the lights at any time, adding to the game experience,” said superintendent Brandi Naylor.

Other benefits to LED lighting are lower operational cost and less maintenance.

In addition to being able to program and control lights wirelessly from any smart device, the Airmesh lights also have several other advantages. Levels of access can be assigned to assigned users, schedules and timers can be set, and usage can be monitored and outage notifications sent. And then there are some more exciting perks like customizable static and dynamic scenes that will make the stadium lighting a more fun and exciting experience for fans.

“Upgrading the lights at the football stadium has been a need for several years,” Naylor concluded, “and we’re glad to be able to do it to provide our fans with a better experience.”
