Future FCCLA members from across the state set their signs on success at the recent
Take AIM conference, held in October at Meridian Technology Center in Guthrie.
The conference, designed specifically for new members from seventh through tenth
grades, Take AIM provided a one-day experience filled with leadership development,
team building, and FCCLA spirit.
Members attending from Marietta were Aycee Dudlee, Alyson Muller, and Ashley
Carreon Morales. Emily Faulkenberry, the State Vice President of Competitive Events,
also assisted with the conference as part of her state officer duties.
Throughout the day, attendees participated in a series of activities including interactive
workshops exploring FCCLA’s core values and programs; team-building exercises
designed to foster communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills; and
leadership development sessions where aspiring leaders gained valuable insignts into
effective communication, goal setting, and teamwork.
“Take AIM wasn’t just about learning, it was about having fun!” said Dudley. “My favorite
part of the conference was learning how to become a successful team. Being part of a
team or organization isn’t a one-person job – it takes everyone.”
According to Alyson Muller, the conference was a great place to make new friends.
“My favorite activity was making a handshake with a partner from another school,” she
said, “then every time we saw each other, we would do our handshake. I also learned
that communication is too easy to do, so I shouldn’t avoid it.”
The Take AIM conference serves as a launching pad for new FCCLA members,
empowering them to become active participants and future leaders within the
organization.
