Marietta High School’s aeronautics program has received a large donation from Jet
Support Services, Incorporated’s Parts and Leasing Division. JSSI donated over a
thousand aviation parts and components to support the growth of the school’s program,
taught by Erin Hansen.
“The goal for this donation is to inspire young students in the field of aviation, as
shortages of aviation mechanics and pilots has reached a critical point in our industry,”
said Chad Mansfield, Appraisal & Operational Specialist for JSSI.
For more than 35 years, Jet Support Services, Inc. has been the leading independent
provider of maintenance support, advisory services, software and financial tools to the
business aviation industry. With more than 6,000 aircraft supported by maintenance
programs and software platforms, JSSI leverages this wealth of data, scale, and
innovation to drive cost savings and provide custom solutions that align to the interests
of each client, regardless of make or model.
JSSI’s donation consists of parts and components of jet engines, flight controls,
windshields, electronics, and avionics that were removed from Gulfstream, Citation,
Falcon and Global aircrafts.
“We are so grateful to receive these airplane parts,” said Hansen. “It means a lot for the
students to handle and hold because it adds a new dimension to the curriculum. While
plastic models are great, holding and analyzing real parts allows students to compare
and contrast the weight, shape, and size of the parts. This is the essence of what we’re
striving for in the aeronautics program: practical, immersive learning that prepares
students for future careers in aviation.”
With the new resources, Hansen expects students to be able to dive deeper into the
mechanics of aviation, gaining experience that will enhnce skills and understanding of
the industry.
“In the future, we’re planning to incorporate internships at local airports, along with
opportunities for pilot and drone certifications,” stated Hansen. “We are thankful to JSSI
for their generous support! Together, we are elevating the next generation of aviators,
engineers, and innovators. Onward and upward!”
