Marietta Ag Advisor Josh Bazor and his ag mechanics class showed up big at the

Oklahoma State Fair Recently, being named state runner-up in the chapter

sweepstakes. FFA chapters from across the state compete in the contest.

The chapter had two state championship entries and two runners-up. Placings included

state champion Jazmin Sanchez in indoor furniture. Also in indoor furniture, Yasmin

Salazar placed fifth.

Marietta swept the farmstead improvement category with Brody Bazor as champion,

Kevin Bane in second place, and Zade Bone in third place.

In the category for trailers over 16 feet, Leo Venegas placed second and Schuyler

Blevins placed third, and in trailers under 16 feet, Joan Vega was the fifth place winner.

Luis Gonzales was the seventh place finisher in hobby and recreation, Laney Hicks

placed seventh in outdoor furniture, and Allie Hice placed sixth in functional small

projects, while Slade Campbell was ninth.

In the farmstead tools division, Schuyler Blevins placed third and Joan Vega placed

sixth.

Rebekah Alberda was the fifth place finisher in the large decorative category, Alex Salas

was sixth in patio cookers, and Taylor McCleskey was fifth in livestock.

After competing in the OKC fair, Bazor and his students moved all projects to Tulsa for

competition in the Tulsa State Fair. Upon completion of the Tulsa fair, the projects will

return to Marietta, where they’ll be sold in the October 10 FFA auction. Proceeds from

the sale will help to fund next year’s projects.

“I’m very proud of all the hard work that my students put in last year,” said Bazor, “and

I’m excited about this year’s group of students and the bigger and better projects that

they have planned.”
