Marietta releases back-to-school information

As impossible as it seems, back-to-school time is just around the corner. That means

enrollment – and plenty of other things – will be happening in the near future to get

students and schools ready for that time.

For returning students in Marietta’s district, enrollment is all online and is already

available for parents.

For new students, beginning July 29, parents will need to contact their child’s site and

set up an appointment. To reach the proper office, just call (580) 276-9444 and follow

the voice prompts. To enroll, parents will need their child’s birth certificate, immunization

record, social security number, and CDIB and or Tribal Membership card if applicable,

as well as any legal documents regarding custody or guardianship arrangements.

Parents will also need proof of residency, such as a current utility bill that includes their

name and physical address. Also, if the child will be participating in school athletic

programs, an athletics physical is required.

Any questions about enrollment for either new or returning students may be directed to

Gina Ham at gina.ham@mariettaisd.org.

At any time during the school year, parents can contact the school by email at

contactus@mariettaisd.org. Include the grade level of the student and it will be directed

to the appropriate site.

Teachers will head back to school for in-service on August 5 and 6, and the first day of

classes for students is Thursday, August 8.

An open house for parents and students in Pre-K through fifth grades will be held on

Wednesday, August 7 from 1 to 3 p.m. An open house for the new middle/high school

facility will be scheduled at a later date.

“I know that folks are going to have parking questions for the new building,” said

Superintendent Brandi Naylor, “but we are still waiting for signage and can’t answer

those right now. As soon as we are able, we will have information on the school’s

website, as well as our social media account and in the newspaper.”

For now, all regular student drop-offs and pick-ups and main parking for the campus will

be in the current elementary lot until the new MS/HS parking lot is completed. The loop

facing Highway 77 will be used for visitors during the school day, such as a parent

dropping by the school during the day.
