Marietta High School Dovan Bucher placed fifth in 4A Monologue at the State Speech Tournament, held April 12 and 13 on the campus of Rose State College in Oklahoma City.
Bucher competed in three preliminary rounds. Based on scores from those rounds, he moved to the fourth and final round where he contended with the state’s best student performers in 4A.
“Monologue is a very difficult event that combines both a humorous piece and a dramatic piece, tied together by a common theme,” said Coach Alicia Harris. “truly showing a well-rounded actor – if done well, and Dovan has done very well this season!”
Bucher, a sophomore, is in his first year of competitive speech.
“I know there are big things in store for Dovan!” concluded Harris.
