The Marietta FFA Chapter recently wrapped up a statewide event designed to inform school children about the importance of agriculture in Oklahoma.

During the activity, chapter members were asked to read an accurate agricultural book in the classroom. The event was held in cooperation with the Marietta Primary and Elementary Schools and the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture.

Twenty FFA members signed up to read an agriculture book to ten different elementary classes containing over 200 excited. The number of FFA members reading has doubled since the chapter began the statewide event three years ago.

“The kids looked so happy when we walked into their classrooms to read to them,” said FFA member Landon Pratt.

FFA member Taylor McCleskey added, “The kids really paid attention, and giggled every chance they got.”

“I really appreciate the ag students taking the time to come in and read to our pre-K students,” said Marietta Primary Aide Erin Banta. “I know both the readers and the little ones really seem to enjoy it.”
