At the regular meeting of the Board of Education for Marietta Public Schools on Monday, June 5, board members voted to approve the hiring of a new assistant principal for the high school.
Josey McDonald, who is soon to marry and will be Josey Good when the new school year begins, has been serving as a special education teacher with the Dickson Public School district.
“Josey is young, energetic, and willing to step up to the task, and we feel that she is going to be a great addition to our staff,” said Superintendent Brandi Naylor.
McDonald, a graduate of Dickson High School, earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a master’s in Special Education from East Central University. She has worked with the incoming high school principal Michael Oakley.
“Josey is highly motivated and absolutely loves helping students succeed,” said Oakley. “She is very excited to become a part of our district.”
The board also voted to approve a bid to replace the roof on the existing gymnasium.
“This is something that we’ve needed to do for a while and are now in a position to be able to do it,” Naylor explained.
Public bids were accepted on May 4. The low bid of $345,850 from Universal Roofing & Sheet Metal was accepted, and the project is scheduled to begin as soon as possible, hopefully to be completed by mid-August.
