The Marietta Strong High School Powerlifting team won its second meet in a row on Thursday, February 23, at the Tishomingo High School Powerlifting Meet, this time by a margin of 150 points.
First place winners were Tanasia Randle, Jordyn Metcalfe, Crystal Castaneda, Melanie Ortiz, and Graicee Hicks.
Second place finishers were Cece Chiffer, Taryn Blankenship, Jaycee Arthur, and Colours Starsick.
Coming in third in the meet were Savannah Lemons, Hailey Wilkerson, and Lexi Motes.
Jayci Waldrop finished in fourth place.
The boys’ team was the meet runner-up, with Aldo Salazar, Draden Reynolds, and Kaden Dudley finishing in first place, Joan Vega, Jared Kaminski, and Xavier Guerrero in second place, Titus Higle in third place, and Edward Hill and Juan Perez in fourth place.
The teams seem to be peaking at just the right time, with regionals scheduled for the week of February 27 through March 3.
“These girls and boys are performing at very high levels with great chemistry,” said Coach Alex Doby. “I’m very proud to be a part of a staple of excellence.”
